On 29–30 September 1941, in the ravine of Babyn Yar near Kyiv, Nazi forces murdered at least 33,771 Jewish men, women, and children. This massacre marked the beginning of a series of mass shootings at the site, where more than 100,000 people including Jews, Roma, Soviet POWs, and others, were killed during the German occupation.
