This week, I was so shocked to find a beautiful antique gold ring with semi-precious stones! This is not a typical find for me/my store, so I wanted to give you guys some pointers on how I locate these once in a lifetime pulls! Check everything! I am serious about this one, whether it is old coins in a pouch, jewelry stuck inside an old drawer or $20 inside a pocket, a lot of items can be overlooked at donation centers. So, try to be creative when you search! I started rattling boxes around to s

This week, I came across a pair of vintage Doc Martens (Made in England!!) They definitely need some love (restoration), so I thought this would be a great opportunity to show you guys how I care for my used leather goods! There are 3 key steps that I always like to fulfill in bringing my shoes/bags back to life. The first is always a thorough cleaning with saddle soap. I like to lather it up really well and use it sparingly on my goods because it does strip the leather of its natural oils. Once

This week, I noticed how much vintage costume jewelry was being overlooked while I was out thrifting. A few of the pieces had precious hardware attached, which I always like to collect for gold scrap. After accumulating a few clasps over the last month, I was shocked by how much it all weighed! 2.92 grams of mostly 14K gold (about half a gram of 10K) but I have calculated the value for 10K in this video to account for losses during melt/sale. There are 3 clasps in total and I bought the necklace

Every week, I set aside $20 and scour my local area in search of any historically/culturally significant, valuable or just plain COOL items I can save from a landfill bound fate. This week started strong with a match to my vintage Dooney & Bourke purse from a while ago! It is the same brown/black pebble grain leather but has a different closure/size. I have amassed quite a beautiful vintage dooney collection over the last 6 months, which I will be making available for purchase closer to the end

This week, we are heading to an estate sale! Estate sales can be a real treasure trove for thrifters & resellers, but what are some of my best tips for when you go? Always, always, ALWAYS try to do some research beforehand! If you see a big wardrobe, or a lot of silverware, try to spend a few hours online perusing auction houses and online stores with similar inventory (this is just what I do to learn about new/valuable items!) You should also scan the listing photos. I saw some beautiful jewelr

This week, I set aside $100 to scour my local area in search of any historically/culturally relevant, valuable, or just plain COOL items that I can save from a landfill bound fate and rehome! Started the week strong with some gorgeous, vintage coach bags. These both underwent my full restoration process and have been restored to their former glory! Check them out at the link in my bio to make them yours! Next, I found ANOTHER insanely cool caiman leather bag made in Argentina. Caiman are a small

This week, I found an incredible piece of history! This lovely little object is called a Benetier, aka a Holy Water Font! When I started digging, I noticed a few other objects in the bin of extremely old age. This is always a good sign! Once I dug deeper, the Convex Glass appeared and I knew I was looking at something old! Some of you may be familiar with domed glass from more modern pieces, but the best tell/sign is when the glass is extremely thick, and the shape is not "machine-perfect." This

This week, I picked up what I first thought was a piece of costume jewelry, only to discover I was holding something much more valuable! Let's talk jewelry! When I first picked this necklace up, I immediately noticed the little 14K Gold stamp on the clasp. Once I located precious metals, I knew I needed to investigate further! That's when I realized that this necklace was made of freshwater pearls! While they aren't typically all that valuable, they are such a novelty find, and with my metal all

This week, I found an Antique Louis XV style footstool! These ornate furniture pieces are so fun and can be worth a LOT! So let's discuss what to look for when you are out at the thrift! The #1 thing I look for is hand-wrought furniture nails. These nails are typically domed in shape and have hammer marks you can easily observe. Next, let's discuss Needlepoint Tapestry! Needlepoint has a long history, originating in ancient Egypt around (1500) BCE, where a simple tent stitch was used for utilita

Every week, I set aside $100 and scour my local area in search of any historical, valuable, or just plain COOL items that I can save from a landfill bound fate and give a new life! This week started off with a bang! I spotted this gorgeous kilim wool travel bag deep inside of a bin and was SO thrilled to find the 100% handmade in Turkey tags attached! These vintage bags are durable, lightweight, and often reversible due to the flat-weave technique, which interweaves the warp and weft threads to

This week, I finally found a stack of old coins at the thrift store! Something I've been daydreaming about since the ripe age of 10! I started my coin collection around the same age. My dad and I used to hit the Antique Mall on weekends, and they were one of the first items I could afford on my monthly allowance 😂 My heart was RACING when I realized what they were, but I told myself not to get my hopes up too high because Gold and Silver coins are really rare to find at these locations. I went

This week, I wanted to highlight a fun, historical coin that you can hunt for on your next outing! I found a really fun relic of US currency's past this week: a buffalo nickel! The one I found is from 1923, but these were made from 1913-1938. They do not have any silver content, but they do hold historical value. The Buffalo nickel was designed by James Earle Fraser. He was a prominent sculptor who created the coin's iconic imagery of a Native American chief and an American bison. Fraser's desig

This week, I wanted to give you guys a quick history lesson on Burberry labels! This quick trick has helped me authenticate so many bags over the years! The bag I found has an interior label that reads, "Burberry OF London." Right away, I knew this was a fake! The stitching was straight as an arrow. Leather was in great condition and even had the correct branded hardware. However, the missing "S" is ALWAYS a tell! You see, in 1999, they changed their brand logo format from Burberry's of London t

This week, I have really exciting news! I have finally published my first long form video on YouTube! There is SO much about thrifting I want to cover with you guys, and these 30-second videos never seem to be enough! I have been bringing a GoPro along for the last few weeks and capturing everything! Fortunately for us all, I had an INSANE day of finds recently and caught everything on film! I'm talking about gold jewelry, a sterling silver plate, foreign coins & SO much more! I get a lot of com

This week, I almost missed out on an incredible find! It got me thinking about all the items I've passed on at the thrift store in life and which ones I regret the most. This is REALLY common in thrifting because you have to look at so many items at once! Over the years, I have passed on an Alaia dress ( I didn't recognize the tag at 19 😂🥲), sterling silverware with lion passants, and so many other goodies! This week, I found a gorgeous acrylic painting that looked to be out of a village in Ha

This week, I wanted to cover a historic and often valuable porcelain maker that you'll come across at the thrift store: Limoges! Limoges is both a hard-paste style of porcelain, as well as a city in France. Limoges porcelain is made from a mixture of kaolin, felspar, and quartz, fired at very high temperatures. It is characterized by a bright white, translucent body and a smooth, refined texture. Kaolin was discovered in 1765, and by the 1770s, the Royal Limoges porcelain began manufacturing. Tr

This week, I crossed another item off of my Thrift Bucket List! Some of you may be thinking, "Wait, didn't she find a set just like this last year?" And you are correct! That was my third ever video here on Instagram, and after posting, it helped to connect me with so many of you!! A lot of you don't know that during covid, I lost everything. My business, my collection, my ability to pay my bills, etc, were all wiped in a few weeks' time. A combination of poor planning and bad life circumstances

This week, we are covering all things, Lucite!! Lucite handbags gained massive popularity in the 1950s, showcasing the talent and ingenuity of so many young designers of that day! Lucite was created by DuPont in 1931 (sorry for the error during filming 😅) and became a popular acrylic plastic, especially after being used for military applications during World War II. Its commercial use exploded in the late 1940s and 1950s, leading to its widespread use in fashion items like handbags and jewelry,

This week, something caught my eye in the bin, and it led me to an incredible discovery! A pair of Tom Ford sunglasses! This got me thinking about some of the more intricate details that I look for when digging for valuables. Today, I want to talk to you guys about Inlaid Hardware. Inlaid Hardware uses materials like metal, wood, bone, or shell, which are precisely set into a recess in a different surface (like wood, stone, or tile) to form a decorative design that is flush with the surrounding

This week, my greatest fear while thrifting came true! My cart was taken/dumped after 4 long hours of digging at the bins 🥲 Luckily, I have seen this happen to other shoppers and always prepare for the worst! I want to be fully transparent that what works for me at my store may not work for you. Let's begin: This location has a limited number of shopping carts. Due to this, staff allow us to bring in over the shoulder purses / shopping bags in the off chance that we don't get a cart that day. I

I thrifted my dream vintage YSL Safari dress and couldn't wait to share some of the history behind this insane thrift find! Yves Saint Laurent introduced his Safari jacket in the Summer of 1968. These iconic designs quickly became synonymous with the label and maintain their relevance in modern times. Anthony Vaccarelo returned the Safari silhouettes to the YSL runway during the S/S of 2024. Yves Saint Laurent was a fascinating person with a diverse set of challenges and triumphs throughout his

This week, I found one of the most incredible pieces to ever grace my collection. A 1920s, prohibition era, art deco style hip flask made of Sterling silver! I was in awe when I found this flask while digging. It did have a few small dings but nothing major that can't be fixed with some buffing and reshaping! It weighs 186 grams and is still fully functional. During the Prohibition Era (1920s) in the United States, when the production, distribution, and sale of alcoholic beverages were outlawed,

You won’t believe what was hiding on their table!! When I arrived, I immediately noticed how much sterling & gemstone jewelry there was. I picked out the pieces I most enjoyed and also felt would hold and gain the most value over time. This week, We are heading to some garage sales! I have recently been trying new methods for sourcing and wanted to give some pointers for garage sales! The first and most obvious bit of advice is to arrive early! You wouldn't believe how much literal (and figurative) gold gets bought up in the first few minutes!! But, let's talk about some of the less obvious techniques that can give you an edge up in your searches. This is going to sound crazy, but I actually look for listings that seem rushed/

This week, I found a beautiful vintage sterling & turquoise pendant and chain necklace by the Navajo artist Arkie Nelson while digging. I shopped for a few hours on this day and found a beautiful necklace, a pair of antique gloves, and a handful of victorian porcelain buttons, all in the final hour of my search. I had alm
