On New Year’s Eve, Oakland Zoo assisted California Department of Fish and Wildlife in rescuing a malnourished female spider monkey found during a suspected DUI traffic stop by CHP. Estimated to be 5-6 months old, she arrived with an upper respiratory infection and is now receiving critical care. The team is hopeful for her recovery and is choosing a name that honors her species. We will post more updates as she recovers.
